With the nights drawing in and winter just around the corner now is the best time to stock up on some 'Winter Warmer' brews. A winter warmer is defined as a traditional malty-sweet strong ale that is brewed in the winter months. It is usually quite dark, but not as dark as a stout, with a big malt presence. We offer a fantastic selection of seasonal brews that will make the perfect winter accompaniment.

Castle Brewery - Lostwithiale (Porter - ABV 7%)

A deep red and fruity ale, also known as 'Crown Jewels' in reference to the ancient castle and brewed in the Stannary town of Lostwithiel. A classic strong, bottle conditioned winter warmer.

St Austell Brewery BIG Job Double IPA (ABV 7.2%)

Big by name, Big by flavour - this strong beer is as dry as the Sahara and as subtle as an elephant. Massively hopped with citra and centennial, this beer offers an overwhelming resinous blast. It is bitter and warming in the finish and not for the faint-hearted.

St Austell Brewery Proper Black IPA (ABV 6%)

A riot of flavours and deceptive to the palate, the beer is black as stout, but the taste is classic IPA with a malt backdrop. Hops dominate with chocolate and coffee notes. An eastern European feel to this multi-faceted beer.

Dynamite Valley Black Charge Stout (ABV 5%)

Black Charge is a full flavoured sweet oatmeal stout. Hints of coffee mingle with the roasted biscuit notes which dominate initially, eventually giving way to a becalmed sweetness in the finish. Add in the pitch-black creaminess and what we have is a beguiling foray into a world of dark flavours.

Keltek Brewery Grim Reaper Premium Cornish Ale (ABV 6%)

A strong but well balanced winter warmer. Full bodied sweet malt combined with balanced resinous hop and a bitter linger make this a great fireside relaxer. Kick back with the logs burning, the lights off and a full glass in front of you!

Lizard Ales - An Gof (Strong Ale ABV 5.2%)

The mash is a blend of Maris Otter, Crystal, Chocolate, and Smoked malts, complimented in the copper by Fuggles and Goldings hops, making a truly magnificent ale. It was brewed to commemorate the St Keverne Blacksmith who led the Cornish Revolt in 1497.

St Austell Brewery Mena Dhu Cornish Stout (ABV 4.5%)

A distinctive St Austell stout, 'Mena Dhu' is translated from the Old Cornish meaning 'Black Hill' - As dark as night with a smoky log fire aroma. Hints of liquorice and dark chocolate tantalise the taste buds on a journey to a surprisingly light but enduring linger.

Sharp's Sea Fury Special Ale (ABV 5%)

Filled with bold, warming flavour - Sea Fury is a rebranded version of Sharp's Special, originally brewed in 1996 and reappearing in March 2016. This sumptuous beer first tempts the drinker with inviting roasted-dark berry aromas with full malt and berry fruit on the palate and subtlely sweet hints with a moreish hop finish.
